For the second year running, students at Southern Arkansas University turned blank guitar kits into stage-ready electric guitars. This year’s class of ten went big: a hand-carved headstock scroll, color-shift paint, engraved maple leaves, a skeleton-themed body with cut horns, and one guitar with a color-changing LED back.
Every build started from the same blank kit: routed cavities, a fretted neck, and a box of hardware. Ten identical starting points, ten completely different instruments, and every one of them plays. The semester ended with a gallery exhibit and a live jam where the guitars went straight onto the stage.
